Born in Hawaii and raised primarily on the mainland, Dr. Kauwe maintains a close connection to Molokai, which he visits regularly. While there, he participates in traditional cultural crafts including stonework and cordage. He and his wife are raising their family in Billings, where he is an active supporter of local schools and athletic programs.
Dr. Kauwe has published peer-reviewed research in the Journal of Foot and Ankle Surgery and Clinics in Podiatric Medicine and Surgery, contributing to the evidence base in bunion surgery, first ray arthrodesis, and Achilles tendon care. He also serves as a reviewer for the Journal of Foot and Ankle Surgery, evaluating surgical research for scientific rigor and clinical relevance.
